In order to match the essence of the existing Grand Floridian Hotel, much focus was placed on the quality of light (both color rendering and color temperature) as well as a focus on traditional decorative fixtures.  This old-world charm needed to blend with modern LED sources to keep the theme consistent across the property.

         Visitors are greeted at the Porte Cochere with a Victorian Era custom chandelier that GWA designed in-house using reference fixtures from elsewhere at the resort.  Pathway, parking and entry drive lighting fixtures are all decorative elements that match the aesthetic.  Even the upgrades at the courtyard pool where done with the decorative fixtures using a combination of new lamps and upgraded optics.  Inside the new building, the white surfaces of the lobby glow with even illumination from integrated LED downlights.  The centerpiece of the lobby is a fountain featuring characters from Mary Poppins.  This is centered in an 80’ tall atrium space where accent lights are tucked at the perimeter.   A pair of elaborate 40’ tall chandeliers fill the volume and greet guest views at every floor.  Guest rooms are adorned with decorative fixtures, recessed LED art lighting and concealed shower slots all intended to give guests the quality of light expected with a 5-star resort.
