GWA TEAMRAYMOND GRENALD, NCARB, FAIA, FIALD, FIES Ray Grenald, as a practicing architect, won international recognition for his lighting designs. In 1968 he elected to specialize and in doing so he went on to become a founding member of what has since become a new profession and one of the founders of its professional organization (International Association of Lighting Designers). His design philosophy evolved from an awareness and sensitivity to the human perception and behavior response to the physical environment, especially the visual. His studies and observation of behavior modification has resulted in a unique approach to lighting design. As Design Principal, Ray is involved in projects as form giver and critic for the firm. Ray is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA), Past President and a Fellow of the International Association of Lighting Designers (FIALD) and a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society (FIES). He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Lighting Research Organization. rgrenald@gwalighting.com LEE WALDRON, FIALD, IESNA Lee Waldron joined the Grenald organization in l976. As President of Grenald Waldron Associates, Lee is responsible for setting the overall strategy for the company and its future growth allied to the business of lighting knowledge management. As a Design Principal, Lee offers design expertise for both interior and exterior architectural applications. His early work with theatre, film and television lighting adds dramatic expertise to his projects. Lee's approach to creating the most appropriately lighted environment for his clients is determined by the proper mix of light - its color, distribution, intensity and control - and where it is best placed to achieve the desired effect. Every client's project is viewed as unique and new, to which Lee brings his wealth of talent and experience. Lee is a Fellow and former President of the International Association of Lighting and a member of the IESNA. lwaldron@gwalighting.com COURTNEY SLEVIN SARGE, IESNA, LEED AP Courtney has had experience managing a wide variety of project types from design conceptualization through final installation. Her successful projects range from residential, commercial and hospitality to urban streetscapes and lighting master plans. As a LEED accredited professional, she is committed to incorporating sustainable strategies into every project. As part of the GWA team, Courtney is focused on providing high performance lighting solutions and engaging her clients in a goal and service oriented design process. csarge@gwalighting.com SANDRA M. STASHIK, PE, FIES, IALD, LEED AP Sandra Stashik has been a member of Grenald Waldron Associates design team since 1985. As a member of the Executive Management Team formed in 2002, Sandra's responsibilities include hiring, staff development and studio resource manager. Her strong design and technical expertise lends itself to her award winning urban design, campus planning and large corporate facility projects. Sandra leads the firms "Green and Sustainable Design" efforts. Sandra's projects reflect the design philosophy that all lighting has an effect on the quality of people's lives. Whether designing a corporate office, or a downtown or campus master plan, improving the lives of the occupants or users is a prime concern. This philosophy is coupled with the selection of lighting equipment that will provide effective energy utilization and sustainability. Sandra is a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society, past member of the Board of Directors, and past Chairperson of the National Energy Management Committee. She is a professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers, certified Lighting Consultant, a registered Professional Engineer as well as a LEED accredited professional. sstashik@gwalighting.com MARK W. HARRIS, IALD Mark Harris was named Principal in the summer of 2004 after two years at Grenald Waldron Associates. As a member of the Executive Management Team formed in 2002, Mark's responsibilities include leading a cohesive company wide design philosophy as well as increased project efficiency to serve our clients and company goals. Mark believes that quality lighting is the thoughtful integration of light (daylight and electric light) into architecture. This principle provides the foundation for Mark's work, as a member of the design team, to find the character of each project and provide a design that is fully integrated and supports the architect's vision. Mark's lighting designs cover the gamut of architectural projects with specialties in corporate headquarters, master plan/roadway lighting, resorts, educational and healthcare. Mark has had the privilege, throughout his career, of working on large-scale projects with some of the world's foremost architects, such as I.M. Pei, Kevin Roche, Moshe Safdie and Robert Venturi. Mark is a member of the International Association of Lighting Designers. mharris@gwalighting.com DAVID BRUMBELOW, IESNA David joined Grenald Waldron Associates in 1996. With studies in theatrical lighting design, he brings a dramatic perspective to architectural lighting design. David is responsible for design and project management on a wide range of project types such as interior and exterior residential, commercial, museum and retail spaces. His dedication and innovative work on major retail chains has blended energy and cost efficiency with lighting that responds to the needs of both shoppers and retailers. David is a member of the IESNA. dbrumbelow@gwalighting.com TROY HORNUNG, IESNA, LEED GA, LC Troy joined Grenald Waldron Associates in 2005. As a former principal of a small lighting firm he is highly qualified to handle the design and project management challenges of all aspects of projects. Troy's lighting experience includes designs for hospitality, retail, residential, entertainment and restaurant environments. He has a comprehensive background in theatrical lighting design and architectural lighting that allows him to take a creative perspective on the world of building design and planning Troy is a member of the IESNA and a certified lighting consultant. thornung@gwalighting.com ANNE FLAHERTY, EIT, LEED AP, IESNA Anne Flaherty joined Grenald Waldron Associates design team in June, 2008. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelors of Science degree from the Architectural Engineering program with an emphasis in Illumination Engineering. Since joining the team she has been exposed to a variety of project types including interior and exterior residential, transportation and master planning. She is committed to developing sustainable designs that reveal the true character of a space. Anne is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society and LEED AP. aflaherty@gwalighting.com RYAN LINTON Ryan Linton joined Grenald Waldron Associates in 2011. He had previously worked for 2 years as an applications engineer for a lighting rep in Denver, CO. He has a degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelors of Science degree from the Architectural Engineering program with an emphasis in Illumination Engineering. He is passionate about design, and excels using the newest design tools to accomplish his goals. Ryan’s past design experiences include hospitality, retail, residential, educational, museums and extensive exterior and site plans.
